Unlike the basic Jim Meyer ‘53-62 Corvette rearend kit (shown above), this new Up-Date Kit includes the basic kit plus everything you’ll need, in one order, to drive your ride right out of the garage. This kit includes Dutchman alloy axles with bearings and seals, Strange 9-inch nodular iron or aluminum thirdmember case with any gears, any size pinion flange, Detroit Tru Trac, Wilwood 12.19-inch rotors and 4-piston calipers (with parking brake), stainless braided brake hoses, a coilover spanner wrench, 7/8-inch diameter formed antisway bar, all Grade-8 fasteners and instructions.
The Up-Date Kit places the new housing (available any width) in the original location for a stock appearance under the fender. The kit (with some welding required) features aluminum adjustable coilover shocks, with a three-position lower mounting point on the housing, adjustable urethane-bushed 4-link control arms (1-inch od X .156-inch wall seamless tube), an adjustable urethane-bushed Panhard bar that bolts to the housing and needs the frame bracket welded into position. The forward mounting point for the 4-link brackets locate into the stock frame-mounted forward spring hangers. This is where more welding will need to be done, along with a couple of upper coilover-mount supports that also need to be added/welded for additional strength. The stock driveshaft is retained.
