OPTIONAL STEERING, PUMP/HOSE KIT

Click for larger image We offer steering linkage kits for all of our IFS kits and direct replacement chassis. Whether you go with a new column or modify the bottom of the old column, you'll need a steering linkage kit to mate to the new rack-and-pinion steering on all of our IFS kits or chassis. Like the Corvette linkage kit (shown), when three U-joints are used, a support bearing is necessary. This helps to route the new linkage past headers or stock exhaust.

We can also modify the bottom of your stock column to accept the linkage kit, if a new column is not in your budget! We'll need to mill two flat sides on the bottom of your old steering shaft, add a shoulder bushing (to keep the shaft centered in the column), add a locking ring, and a double-D U-joint to connect to the new linkage kit! (ididit brushed aluminum column shown).
We have plain steel, chrome steel, brushed aluminum, polished aluminum, plain stainless, & polished stainless steel columns.

OPTIONAL 1955-57 CHEVY STEERING LINKAGE & COLUMNS

Click for larger image This is how your new steering linkage hooks up to the bottom of your column. Either your old stock column modified, new ididit or Flaming River column will need a double "D" U-joint to mate with the standard linkage shown below.

1955-57 OPTIONAL STEERING PUMP KIT

Click for larger image The GM gear box pump (provided) works excellent with our ’85-88 Buick Electra power rack. This same GM605 pump can be used with this Buick rack if you are converting a 605 system over to the Buick rack. The optional pump kit shown does not include the (optional) double-groove V-belt crank pulley, however it will be needed if you now have a single crank pulley. All kit components are available separately.

CONNECTING LINES TO THE PUMP

Click for larger image NO ROCKET SCIENCE HERE! If you use our optional hose kit, you can not get the lines hooked up wrong! If you have your own lines made and they get hooked up backwards, the car will self steer and you will not be able to stop the steering wheel from turning back-and-forth when the engine is running! At the back of the power steering pump, the threaded fitting is the high pressure line out and the push-on hose is the low pressure return line.

1955-57 CHEVY POWER STEERING BRACKET

This kit allows you to install P/S with stock original front motor mounts.

Click for larger image This kit is designed for use with an original front motor mount set-up just like the stock 1955-57 would have. This kit works great with our Econo-Kit rack-and-pinion steering kit. These brackets allow you to have power steering with an original engine.

1955-57 CHEVY POWER STEERING KIT
