G-4 CHASSIS
Here's what the factory couldn't give you in 1955-1957

A direct replacement Tri-Five 2 X 4 box tube chassis with sports car handling, power rack-and-pinion steering, power disc brakes and antisway bars! We've just changed our trans crossmember by adding all the holes to accept all the popular GM and aftermarket transmissions (PowerGlide, 4-spd, 5-spd, 6-spd, 350, 400, 700R4)

The new direct replacement 1955-57 Chevy Generation-IV chassis is designed for convertible or sedan bodies with right-or-left hand drive steering. They build it your way with any options.

Click to enlarge pictureNotice how the large 2 X 4 X-member connects to the rear 4-link thru-frame crossmember. At the front of the chassis, you can also see the tubular motor mounts that connect between the frame rail and the front crossmember for more strength. The front track width comes 1-inches narrower for wider rims and tires.

Optional larger, Wilwood super stoppers with drilled and ball-milled rotors on 2-inch dropped spindles and a 1-inch diameter antisway bar are must-have items to give the you the best handling ride.

Click to enlarge pictureNotice, the upper coil over shock mount offers a 3-position attachment point on the chassis, while the lower mounting offers a two-hole adjustment for the stance you like best. The upper mounting bracket can also be flipped for another inch of stance adjustment as well. No other chassis manufacturer offers 3-4-inches of adjustable stance for the look you want.

This complete stainless brake line kit for tri-five Chevies is optional. Notice the holes Jim has designed into the X-member for routing the brake lines, wiring and M/C push rod...

tri-5 G4 Transmission MountOur new trans crossmember design now offers a multi-hole pattern to give you just about any engine/trans combination you want. The shape and position of the holes allow this trans pad to be fully adjustable to fit all the popular GM and aftermarket transmissions (PowerGlide, 4-spd, 5-spd, 6-spd, 350, 400, 700R4, 4L60E, 4L80E). Since the center pad is removable before welding, it can be reversed to the rear or flipped upside down. The X-member mounted tubes fit inside the trans-pad tube (a slip-fit connection) and can be removed, shortened and welded back together to fit the trans you like best. Grade-8 fasteners and Nylock nuts are provided.

Click to enlarge pictureNo wires, brake lines or fuel lines will have to go under the new Jim Meyer tri-five chassis rails. The Jim Meyer mandrel-bent stainless steel AN-4 brake lines are also available separately for stock chassis or any of his custom chassis. This installation includes bulkhead frame brackets and bulkhead fittings where ever lines connect, while rubber lined hold-down clamps keep the lines solidly mounted.

G4 Transmission MountThe slip-fit connection between the outer tubes and the inner mounting-pad tube simply come apart to fit the placement of your trans pad. Trim equal amounts from both tubes and reassemble with the engine/transmission back in the car and weld them together.

Slip Fit
The side mounting brackets on the X-member offer elongated holes to accept all popular GM and aftermarket transmissions like PowerGlide, GM 4-spd, GM and Tremac 5 & 6-spd, 350, 400, 700R4, 4L60E, 4L80E. A slip-fit connection between the tubes allows for disassembly and welding to fit your trans length.

To lower the tri-five stance, Jim has engineered an additional 1-inch step over the front suspension and an additional 1 ½-inch mandrel-bend step over the rear end. Notice the 3/4-inch diameter antisway bar goes through the inside of the 1 ¾-inch X...120-inch wall tubular crossmember.

Click to enlarge pictureThe rear coilover shocks also offer the same adjustable stance as the front suspension with a multi-position lower mounting bracket. Notice the additional rear end housing gusset between the thirdmember housing and the lower coilover shock bracket.

Click to enlarge pictureSince Jim Meyer custom builds the 9-inch rear end for your tri-five any width, this is where you can determine the wheel bolt pattern, rear brakes and optional Dutchman alloy axles. Notice how the 2 X 4 box tube X-member connects directly in front of the rear 4-link. Jim Meyer has really designed this frame to eliminate any frame flex for the more delicate convertible bodies and take lots of torque.

Click to enlarge pictureIn this view you can see that the new lower roll-center Panhard bar is actually parallel and at the same level as the rear end housing. The brand new 9-inch rear end housing features new 3-inch diameter axle tubes, new flanges of your choice and even a drain plug at the bottom of the housing (just like they use to make them).

The amount of structural beef in this chassis will take lots of BB torque and keep any convertible body flat on the chassis. It is available with right-or-left hand drive for all his Australian and English customers. The same chassis with the new transmission crossmember design.
