THE "NO MEASURE" KIT
That’s right! We’ve designed this kit so it can be installed without the use of any measuring devices! Simply bolt the entire kit onto the engine & trans & drop it in the chassis & weld it in place. The trans crossmember with brackets may have to be bolted on after the engine & trans are installed.
This is the kit to have if you're going to up-grade your old 283 to the more modern SB or BB engines. With the motor in the stock location, there just isn't enough room for the larger HEI distributor. This simple kit will allow you to move the engine and trans forward enough to install the larger diameter HEI cap.
The kit features new die-stamped, 1018 steel, 3/16-inch thick (side) engine-mount brackets designed to use `58 and newer side engine-mounts for either BB or SB GM engines. The trans crossmember comes with new weld-in frame mounts that offer a multi-hole pattern that accepts any GM transmission! The fully adjustable, 1018 steel, 1 3/4-inch od X .120-inch wall tubular-crossmember features a welded steel pad that will accept any GM trans mounting-pattern. Either SB or BB rear-sump oil pans are compatible with this kit, as well as the Jim Meyer `55-57 Chevy bolt-in IFS kit!

With the engine-mount bracket bolted to the new rubber mounts and the engine centered in the frame, the brackets fit tight into the corner of the frame just below the upper a-arm cross shaft studs. Don’t weld yet.

FRAME BRACKETS FEATURE HOLES FOR THE MOST POPULAR TRANSMISSIONS & THE 6 MOST FAVORITE GM TRANSMISSIONS
Our transmission crossmember and frame brackets are used on a lot of our chassis and are offered as a universal kit as well. The only difference in most applications is the length of the crossmember. The mounting brackets, welded to the inside of the frame rails on any application, feature all the holes for the most popular transmissions including GM's PowerGlide, 350, 400, 700R4, GM 4-speed and GM 6-speed.

BOLT THE RUBBER MOUNT TO THE CROSSMEMBER WITH FRAME BRACKET ATTACHED AND WELD THE BRACKETS TO THE FRAME RAILS
To hold the crossmember frame brackets 1/4" above the bottom of the frame for welding, use 2 pieces of 1/4" strap. The bottom strap, held by the clamp, should over-lap to the inside of the frame and the 2nd strap is used as a spacer to keep the frame brackets 1/4" above the bottom of the chassis for welding.

1955-57 CHEVY TUBULAR MOTOR MOUNT SUPPORTS
The two 1 1/4-inch X .120-inch wall D.O.M. tube motor-mounts go between the frame rails and the front crossmember on all of our direct replacement '55-7 Chevy chassis and can be used as optional motor supports on all of our subframes. They are not designed for use with stock frames. They are compatible with all stock GM BB and SB rubber mounts.
